URODYNAMICS

Cystometry Single Lumen Ctheters
Extension lines of sufficient length to reach from the patient to the urodynamics machine are integrated into the catheter during manufacture. This eliminates the need to buy separate extension lines. More importantly, it reduces the number of connections in the fluid system (each unnecessary connection is a possible site for micro air bubbles to form and affect the accuracy of pressure measurement).
Each filling catheter in the range has a diamond-shaped eye which improves release of the bladder pressure catheter during the ‘piggy-back’ technique of catheter introduction into the bladder.
All Urodynamic catheters are fitted with winged luer connectors to aid connection to and release from the pump tubin or other accessories.
For greater user convenience we also offer Cystometry Sets comprising bladder pressure and filling catheters or bladder filling, pressure and rectal catheters in one pack.

Cystometry Double Lumen Catheters
Mediplus double lumen Urodynamic Catheters enable ease of patient catheterisation and simultaneous bladder filling and pressure measurement.
These catheters feature asymmetric lumens where the filling lumen is larger than the pressure measuring lumen. The design is such that only 30% of the lumen cross-sectional area is devoted to cystometry measurement, with the remaining 70% dedicated to filling. This facilitates an adequate bladder filling rate from a smaller French size catheter (maximum fill rate of over 100 ml/minute on Ch.8 and Ch.10 sizes), with a catheter diameter smaller than would otherwise be needed. This aids pressure measurement during the voiding phase of the procedure, and provides greater convenience and patient comfort.

Suprapubic cystometry catheter set also available in Ch.6 and Ch.8.

Urethral Pressure Profile Catheters
Mediplus Urodynamics single lumen UPP catheter, designed for the Brown-Wickham Test, features diametrically-opposing holes 7cm from the tip for perfusion and simultaneous pressure measurement, centimetre markings for UPP, and winged luers for secure connections.
The Mediplus urodynamic double lumen UPP catheters enable ease of patient catheterisation, with a fast filling rate followed by simultaneous accurate UPP and cystometry measurement.
The design is such that only 30% of the lumen cross-sectional area is devoted to cystometry measurement, with the remaining 70% dedicated to filling and sequential UPP.
This ensures a maximum fill rate of 100ml per minute (sizes Ch.8 and Ch.10 only) with a catheter diameter smaller than would otherwise be needed: hence greater convenience and patient comfort.
Triple Lumen UPP Catheters
The three lumen design enables cystometry and UPP with simultaneous perfusion to be performed. The three lumen section of the catheter has a urethral pressure profile cross sectional area showing 50% apportioned to filling for improved filling rates, 25% to cystometry and 25% to UPP. The two colour-coded Ch.4.5 pressure lines (red and blue on the Ch.9 catheters and yellow and blue on the Ch.7 catheter) are an additional 130cm long to enable direct bladder-transducer connection without the need for extension tubing.
The PVC Ch.9 triple lumen catheter is available in two variants, code 5331 with 130cm pressure lines, and codes 5332 and 5335 with shorter 15cm pressure lines.
The polyurethane Ch.7 triple lumen catheter, code 5333, has a low profile collar placed on either side of the urethral pressure measuring eye. This creates a 360° ring of fluid around the circumference of the catheter whilst measuring the urethral pressure. This means that the variation of pressure in the urethra is averaged, which improves the accuracy of the test.

Abdominal (Rectal) Pressure Catheters
Cost effective, single-lumen Urodynamic Catheters for rectal pressures are designed for consistent accuracy of peritoneal pressure measurement and maximum patient comfort. The range includes a choice of 4.5 charriere catheters with PVC flap valve, PVC, latex or silicone balloon.
By using a flap valve or a vented balloon at the proximal tip of the catheter, air can be easily expelled from the catheter lumen during the filling phase of the procedure. The single lumen rectal catheters are smaller than double lumen rectal catheters and, therefore, more comfortable for the patient – and much less expensive

Cystometry Sets
There are a number of Urodynamics catheters that are routinely used in procedures. Mediplus has put these popular Urodynamic catheters into dedicated Cystometry Sets to make it simple and quicker to set up the urodynamic study.

Pump Tubes & Filling Sets
A well designed urodynamic Pump Tube Set is an important component in the smooth running of urodynamics tests such as filling and voiding cystometry. Mediplus Pump Tube Sets are designed to work with the appropriate peristaltic pump to deliver fluid at a predetermined flow rate.
Each set terminates in a rotating male luer connector for secure connection to urodynamic catheters and offers excellent value for money.
